Managing director Paul stumbled into leasing in 1994 having previously sold capital equipment (somewhat bizarrely) in the escalator industry. His first finance job was working for a captive manufacturer (yes, “I was going up in the world”, he says). This led to him working as a broker within the VFG Video Film and Grip rental house. As Paul will tell you at length, this experience was enough to persuade him to go alone, which he did, setting up Medialease in 2003.
More than 10 years later he is older, greyer and in many ways wiser but still loving the customer and supplier relationship, putting deals together and getting involved in an industry that has provided him with so much. Away from work Paul enjoys a pint or three, an afternoon at Franklin’s Gardens watching Northampton Saints or, in the summer months, a day’s cricket at Trent Bridge or Lords. That’s assuming that he’s not busy taxiing his sons around…
As Operations Director Simon’s role is to oversee all the opportunities and transactions that the company are handling and deal with all our banking relationships. It is his job to ensure that every deal is handled quickly and professionally – otherwise you don’t get your kit and the supplier doesn’t get his money.
Outside the office, Simon is blessed with supporting both Leicester City FC and Leicester Tigers (the latter being a significant challenge considering Medialease is based deep in Northampton Saints country). A family man, Simon also plays golf and is currently trying to train Jerry, the Springer Spaniel pup, who is currently the boss of his house.
Ali joined Medialease as administration manager in the summer of 2010 after finishing a University degree. She freely admits to loving her job, in particular the daily challenges it brings and the variety of contact she has with Medialease’s supplier, customer and banking contacts.
During her time with us Ali has also completed the first two levels of her AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification amongst other thing and is looking forward to furthering her learning. Outside of work Ali loves to bake and ice fine cakes and has even completed a cake-decorating course. When not tied to the oven she also supports Northampton Saints.
